Its the debate we had to have

For those who aren't aware the zombieapocalypse is a subset of Eschatology. This is a part of theology and philosophy concerned with the final events in the history, the ultimate destiny of humanity, commonly referred to as the end of the world.

and while much has been written, sung and painted about Armageddon and don't get me started on those who talk about wanting to "immanentize the eschaton" never have I seen the post-apocalyptic wasteland more lovingly portrayed than in the computer game Fallout3.

but the question has to be asked

"Are these games really preparing our children for the post-apocalyptic wasteland, thank goodness the team at 'The Onion' have been tackling this vital topic.

Are Violent Video Games Adequately Preparing Children For The Apocalypse?

"grenades are more effective at taking out cyborgs than automatic weapons"

I think there is a lesson there for us all.

  1. Some pertinent points - axe work is going to be the skill for the future. bone up on those melee weapons now.
    as to the cyborgs
The cyborgs of the future are more likely to be a lot like sonny from i robot. cat like skills, fast reflexes - throw a grenade and it will leap out of the blast radius. They are unlikely to be clunky devices like mr gutsy or robobrain.
hard times ahead - hard times

  2. How to deal with depression cause of no SUN????. DUDE, in an apocalyptic societal meltdown you can fire high powered weaponry and blast EVERYTHING to your hearts content. Depression *snort*. As for the sun, how long does it take to complete all games, movies, and books in the Resident Evil series and THEN Fallout 3?. No sun, please, it's part of the preparation. Is THEIR tele outside or something?.

Just point me in the direction of the stockpiles of Javelin missiles.

As for the borgs. EMP Nades.

..and anti-tank mines just for the shits and giggles.

  3. Just get an EMP pulse canon to fry their electronics and then it's only the zombies you have to deal with!

  4. uamada I knew you'd understand.

Moko - when I am wandering the wasteland its your cheery outlook and motivational battlecrys I want to hear.

Mr_Stu - and skinless, lightning fast dogs? For some reason in the wastelands dogs are all ways hairless. This is probably why they are all so vicious. I would be if I looked like that too.
